Altoona Ridge Lodge provides the ultimate, authentic, mountain experience involving an original blend of accommodations and activities in the Big Sky Country. Located high on a mountain ridge at 7600', you will enjoy 120 mile unobstructed views, endless sunsets, and thousands of acres of untouched nature to explore. Chose from a variety of packages, from SELF GUIDED TRIPS to FULLY INCLUSIVE BACKCOUNTRY EXPERIENCES. Hosted trips offer you an enhanced experience. The Host will take care of orchestrating your trip, provide transportation if wanted, cook, clean, stock wood, and take you on daily adventures to explore the local area. Our HOSTS live by their stomachs first; you will never go hungry while visiting the Lodge. Start your mornings with hot, strong coffee. During your daily adventure, the Host will sherpa a delicious lunch of French cheese, salami, and a fresh baguette from local Montana bakeries to the top of the mountain for your enjoyment. End your day with a trip to the sauna. Sit back, let the wood fired sauna heat warm your muscles and relax into the vast views from the windows looking out. In the winter, the Lodge is blanketed in feet of fresh Rocky Mountain powder snow, a true gift of nature. Activities include skiing, snowmobiling, and snowshoeing. In the spring, the days lengthen and warm up, we receive some of our deepest snow falls during this time. Come and explore the corn snow during THE CORN SNOW SKI FESTIVAL.

Montana summers offer dry days that seem to last forever, and cool summer nights that offer relaxation and great nights' sleep. Plunge into the Altoona Lakes, a short walk away, swim in a pristine, high alpine lake. Enjoy relaxing hikes to scenic overlooks, or hike to the top of a mountain peak. Pack a lunch along and make an adventure of it. In the fall, we open our doors to HUNTERS. Altoona Ridge Lodge sits in the middle of the Deerlodge National Forest Land that is home to some of the best hunting in the state. From our door step you can see Elk, Deer, Moose, Bear, and Upland Birds. A sportsman's paradise, we offer some of the most adventurous and fulfilling hunting available in Montana.
