The Altoona Ridge Lodge is composed of three chalets sitting at 7600 feet above sea level. Perched on a west-facing slope of the Flint Creek Mountains in Western Montana, the views stretch out before you for over 120 miles in every direction.

Altoona Ridge Lodge is the premier location for ski bums to come and play. Stay in a warm lodge, dry your clothes and ski the famous Rocky Mountain champagne powder. Hunters will find a diversity of animals, in an amazing, untouched and vast expanse of nature. Hikers will swim in the wildflowers, starting when the snows melt and continuing late into the summer.
In the Lupine Chalet, you will find the kitchen, dining and lounging areas. A huge deck sits 15 feet in the air in front of it. The Wild Rose is where the sauna and showers are located. In the center of the lodge area, joined by a bridge, sits the Bear Den, where you will end yours day falling asleep before your head hits your pillow. There is never a concern about getting a good night's rest at the Altoona Ridge Lodge. Our set up allows an undisturbed separation for those who want to go to sleep early, while the rest of your group can stay up and play all night.
Our little yurt, also fondly known as the "Lover's Yurt" is available for a party of two. The yurt is a short walk from the main complex of The Lodge, and offers complete peace and tranquility to the couple looking to get even more back to basics during their vacation. The "Lover's Yurt" is 11 feet wide, and has its own heat source. The yurt includes a queen size bed, and provides a comfortable, private, and intimate sanctuary for those who wish to have that little extra time alone from the rest of the party.
You will begin your days with strong coffee on the deck, overlooking acres and acres of nature ... ready and waiting for you to explore. Pass your days in the sanctuary of the Lodge, reading, relaxing.
Top off your afternoon by relaxing in the heat of the lodge sauna, and then take a refreshing splash in the "Vertigo Shower", named for its floor-to-ceiling window that starts with a 15 foot drop and then expands to the vista.
The evenings provide some of the most beautiful sunsets that can be seen from any mountain top in the Untied States. Since the Altoona Ridge Lodge faces directly West, and there are no obstructions, you can see these perfect panoramas year round, from the sun's Northern positions in the summer to its long decent to the South for the Winter Solstice. Spend your evenings by the campfire, and then get pampered with a gourmet family style meal from one of our signature menu selections.
Everything is big out here, even our sleeping bags! Don't forget to inquire about availability of our signature "Godzilla" sleeping bags for the couple that wants to add yet another facet of romance to their trip. These sleeping bags are as big as a barrel of basketballs, and cozy is an understatement to describe them.
Our hosted trip packages include hot, gourmet meals served family-style by your host when you return from fishing or other activities. We also offer a campfire grill to enjoy any fish or game you may have caught during your stay.
